Marakkadha Thedalgal

Marakkadha Thedalgal

This is yet another collection of poems written during end 2002 to mid 2004. All are dated as was the Azhiyatha Uyirgal.

There is a well researched and elaborate foreword (aninthurai) by Prof. Sirpi Balasubramaniam two time winner of Sahitya Academy Awards. This compilation contains 111 poems covering a wide range of topics. Some of it cover the period when the author was with H.E. President of India during his trips or at Rashtrapati Bhawan and describe some scenarios or emotions around those events. There are poems on nature and humorous ones on food. Some spiritual. Some difficult tragedies like Kumbakonam fire accident in school.

Prof. Sirpi elaborates on the origins of Quests (Thedalgal) : Human being, Nature's wonderchild, can expand or contract the boundaries of his/her quests. What they search in their lives determines their status and capabilities. Scientist - poet Ya. Su. Rajan is a source of noble quests. Like his earlier compilations of poems these poems are intricately woven with humanist love. He has compared some of the poems to that of Avvaiyar, Kannadasan and Malaylam poet Sachithanandan.

"Search! ye shall find it" this clarion call for life's quest is found in these Ya. Su. Rajan's poems.
